Legal Aid Society seeks Advocacy Director, Stewart Pope to Retire

STEWART FOR THE PEOPLE

STEWART POPE TO RETIRE AS ADVOCACY DIRECTOR OF LEGAL AID

After 23 years of service at Legal Aid Society, today we announce the retirement of our Advocacy Director, Stewart Pope. Stewart started with us as a Staff Attorney in our Housing Unit after practicing law in the private sector for nearly ten years, engaging in the general practice of law with a focus on property, business, and family law. In addition to bringing his legal experience to Legal Aid, Stewart worked in the business sector before attending law school with over fifteen years of experience in sales and management.

Following Stewart's service as a Staff Attorney, Stewart became a Senior Attorney and then moved into the role of Advocacy Director in 2005. Through the years, Stewart has become the "go-to" for many things. Stewart's phone is always buzzing with texts and calls – cases, clients, grant restrictions, government regulations, putting furniture together, repairing the Keurig – you name it, staff call Stewart about it.

For Stewart, his work has always been about people. The people who drew and kept him motivated at Legal Aid Society for so long – the staff, our strategic partners, and the clients we serve daily.

Stewart's last day will be December 31st. Stewart, on behalf of the board, the staff, and the thousands of lives you touched over your career - we thank you (and we will miss you).
